Downhole Electronics and Instrumentation
The oil and gas industry has developed to such a point that it now has a business critical need for electronics that can work reliably in harsh conditions, at much higher temperatures for longer!
Oil & Gas Drilling Tools require sophisticated electronics in three key areas:
- Wireline Data Logging: To capture data based on gamma, seismic, electro-magnetic, acoustic and vibration that monitors the quality and production capability of the well. These electronics are commonly connected at sub surface and surface recoreding points
- Measurement while drilling (MWD) and Logging while drilling (LWD): These are mounted directly behind the drill head and are based on sensors that detect drill head orientation and direction and measure the mineral and organic material characteristics within the oil well. This is extremely harsh where high temperature, shock and vibration is the normal operating conditions of the tool
- Intelligent Completions: These systems incorporate sensors that measure parameters such as oil and gas pressure to enable predictive, data management of quality and productivity of the well. Installations take place within the well and provide key analytical data throughout the lifetime
