Page 3 of 3 "Once the prototyping process is completed, the board is then moved to mass production. Depending on the quantities involved and the specification of the board, customers can transfer production to Exception’s EMS manufacturing business on the same site as Fastrack, or take manufacture offshore to one of its partner organisations in the Far East. Exception works closely with these organisations through the company’s offshoring division, so are able to advise customers which location is best suited to the manufacture of their specific board, taking into account various factors such as the level of complexity required, as well as the supply chain implications." Myatt continues: “Within Fastrack, we have invested heavily in recent years to ensure that our equipment and resources are state-of-the-art and this continues to be the case. In just the last few months, we have upgraded our placement machines, giving us the capability to place 0.3 BGA’s and 01005s. We have also recently taken delivery of a Yes Tech AIO machine, a new DEK 03i Printer, an Asscon VP56 vapour phase oven and a 3D X-ray machine. Crucially, while Fastrack boasts some of the most leading-edge equipment available on the market today, our sister business, Exception’s board manufacturing division, has a broadly similar set-up. What this means in practice is that anything we can build as a prototype can be replicated in full manufacture in the UK or offshore.” Ends |
